How many Schengen days do you have left?
Visitors to most of Europe can stay 90 days in any 180. Add the dates you were there (or have booked), and see how long your next stay can be.
The rule in plain words
If you're not a citizen of the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, you can be in the Schengen area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, with or without a visa. On any day, look back over the 180 days ending that day: the days you were in the area must add up to 90 or fewer. The day you arrive and the day you leave both count, even if you're there for an hour.
The window moves with you, so days come back one at a time, 180 days after you spent them. Leaving for a weekend doesn't reset anything; it only stops the count while you're away.
Which countries count
All 29 Schengen countries share one count: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland. Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City have no border checks with it, so treat days there as days in it.
Days in Ireland, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Turkey and the Balkan countries outside it (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia) don't count toward the 90. Each has its own rules.

What this can't know
- Older agreements. Some passports have agreements with single Schengen countries that allow longer stays there (New Zealand's, for example). Ask that country's embassy.
- Long-stay visas and residence permits. Days on a national visa or permit for one country don't count toward the 90 in that country.
- The border's count wins. The EU's Entry/Exit System records each entry and exit at the border. If its dates differ from yours, go by its count, and keep your boarding passes.
